Manager Plus 3.0 Overview:
HP ProCurve Manager Plus is a Microsoft Windows-based
network management platform that enables mapping, configuration,
and monitoring. HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0 provides
security and extensibility for small to large networks
with remote sites. Network-wide management control allows
users to securely add, customize, and restrict network
management access. With HP ProCurve security and wireless
solutions, as well as extended third-party support,
HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0 offers a single pane management
solution. With remote agent extensibility, the software
can manage many remote sites with encrypted communications
and firewall traversal. Customers will gain superior
return on management, security, choice, and flexibility.

Manageability:
- Functional-based profile settings: HP
ProCurve Manager Plus allows network administrators
to create new profiles and associate what type of
information is available for those functions, which
provides more control of network access. Profiles
can be set at a global or regional level to give
fine-grained permissions within the network, providing
a more secure access to the network at all levels
of support.
- Cisco device support: With HP ProCurve
Manager Plus, Cisco customers can migrate to ProCurve
products and retain their investment in legacy Cisco
switches. ProCurve Manager Plus provides visibility
into device support for Cisco premium switches.
With HP ProCurve Manager Plus and its single pane
of management, customers can help isolate network
problems in a mixed environment.
Security:
- Agent security with SSL: Deploying agents
in remote environments enables the agent to securely
transverse firewalls via a Secure Sockets Layer
(SSL) connection to the HP ProCurve Manager server.
Once the system is connected, traffic monitoring
and event notification use the SSL tunnel to securely
transverse the Internet to the destination IP address
of the HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0 server and agent.
- RADIUS authentication of network management
administrators: HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0
can be configured to use the RADIUS industry-standard
protocol to authenticate network management administrators.
This authentication approach allows for HP ProCurve
Manager Plus 3.0 simplified and standardized user
administration.
Traffic monitoring:
- In-depth traffic analysis: An integrated
traffic-monitoring interface shows detailed information
on traffic throughout the network and delivers minute-by-minute
views of the volume and content of traffic at specified
points within the ProCurve network. Using enhanced
traffic analysis protocols such as XRMON and sFlow,
users can monitor input and output traffic levels
by device (up to 10,000 polled ports per agent)
in order to help network managers enhance network
resources.
Integration:
- HP Network Node Manager--Windows integration:
- Installation: optional integration
with HP Network Node Manager (NNM) is available.
- Auto-discovery coordinated with Network
Node Manager: When integrated with NNM,
HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0 uses NNM's discovery
database and retrieves additional ProCurve device
data.
- Topology mapping: When integrated
with NNM, HP ProCurve Manager Plus provides
ProCurve device icons to the NNM topology map,
allowing easy identification of ProCurve devices.
Policy management:
- Policy creation and enforcement: HP ProCurve
Manager Plus 3.0 has the ability to create policies,
set alerts, and take action to enforce network or
device policies. Network threats, bandwidth, or
link issues can be mitigated by proactive policies
and can be enforced with alerts and actions.

- Event alerting and analysis: HP ProCurve
Manager Plus 3.0 has event access and filtering
capabilities that allow users to view, acknowledge,
and sort network events. A summary displays device
as well as HP ProCurve Manager Plus application
events and categorizes them by severity, making
it easier to track where bottlenecks and problems
exist in the network.
- Backup and restore utility: The backup
and recovery utility provides HP ProCurve Manager
Plus with the ability to back up the net management
database and the configuration files of HP ProCurve
Manager Plus 3.0. Users never have to worry about
losing known good configurations or database information
when making changes or updates to the network.
- Multiple device firmware updates: HP
ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0 automatically obtains
new device firmware from ProCurve and updates devices,
allowing users to download the latest version or
choose the desired version for downloading. Network
administrators can schedule firmware updates on
one or more groups of devices via the easy-to-use
Firmware Update Wizard.
- Configurable Integration Platform (CIP) Wizard:
Configurable Integration Platform capabilities
are still present in HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0,
but the CIP Wizard makes integration of third-party
network devices, user-defined devices, and applications
to HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0 a snap. The CIP
Wizard provides a step-by-step intuitive interface
for integrating different vendor devices and applications
into HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0.
