ProCurve Mobility Manager 3.0 Overview:

HP ProCurve Mobility Manager 3.0 provides a single point in which to plan, deploy, manage, and monitor a ProCurve wireless LAN (WLAN). As a plug-in software module for HP ProCurve Manager Plus, this powerful tool provides visualization of predictive radio frequency (RF) coverage and location of WLAN infrastructure, unmanaged (rogue) access points, and wireless clients all in the same map that can be created through imported floor plans. Monitoring network health is easy with an integrated, single-screen dashboard providing device or network-wide wireless network utilization and client activity. With ProCurve Mobility Manager 3.0 integrated seamlessly into HP ProCurve Manager Plus, network administrators can easily manage their wireless and wired network from a common, unified network management console.

• Support for the new HP ProCurve Manager Plus 3.0 architecture: The new architecture in ProCurve Manager 3.0 lets you logically divide the network and manage devices on remote segments of large networks connected by links that might or might not be behind a network address translation (NAT) firewall

  • Zones: allows the site map to be divided into zones with distinct attenuation coefficient values based on typical environments

  • Planner report: reduces the time needed to order and install a WLAN

  • Single-screen wireless LAN dashboard: shows statistics for a device or a user-defined group of ProCurve access points and radio ports
  • Site view: a site plan stored or imported into ProCurve Mobility Manager that simplifies monitoring and troubleshooting by displaying wireless coverage, location, and activity
     
• Network security:
  • Rogue device detection: alerts untrusted devices discovered via radio frequency scans (using ProCurve wireless devices)
  • Centralized application of security policies: helps ensure consistent applications of security policies via template-based group configuration of security settings (including encryption keys and SSIDs)
  • Automated configuration checking: provides the option of alerting any device configuration changes, helping to mitigate potential gaps in security policy

  • Device configuration: allows users to easily select a ProCurve wireless device from a list of auto-discovered network infrastructure or click a wireless device icon on the site view map to view or configure device, radio, and security parameters
  • Group-based configuration and software management: allows administrators to centrally assign managed devices to groups and apply configuration changes or software updates either in real time or on a scheduled basis
